RC NARCISSUS
“Not even the touch of water, the reflection of the other beloved is transfigured into details of pure appearance. Appearance only, he/the other him do not recognize each other, really more"
The third of the nine paragraphs of Radical Change, Narcissus_RC_03, it is the imagoturgical translation of Narcissus' metamorphosis, a video performance by Francesco Pititto, artistic director of 'As a Little Phoenix'. Narcissus, son of the waters and young man of extraordinary beauty rejected the nymph Echo, it overlooks a spring, he sees his own image and falls irremediably in love with it. Pining for love for what he now knows to be himself, Narcissus lets himself die: a beautiful flower with white petals edged with saffron will be born in the burial site.
Lenz Rifrazioni's changing research arrives at the video tool with the famous myth of Narcissus, played by Francesco Pititto. A stubborn and rigorous work on the image, true stylistic signature of Lenz Rifrazioni's twenty-year work, to rediscover in pixel form the metamorphosis 'drawn' by the great poet Ovid. And the other myths return – Phoenix, Orpheus, Alcyone, Echo – in radical change to warn of the passage of time, to testify to the new form that slowly and surely is taking shape in bloom. Parma in reflection, between technology, industrial spaces, myths and transformations, in continuous movement between sounds and radical artistic architecture. “The third paragraph underlines Maria Federica Maestri- the full autonomy of Francesco Pititto's video language is available: reduced body language, refracted and reflected in this metamorphosis, it absolutizes the passion of what is missing, the unattainability of the self. Giving up performative exposure is equivalent to reinforcing the need for what has been lost. Imagoturgy of the image reflected in continuous and obstinate movement, slow carriage forward until it gets lost in the blurred pixel equal to the rippling of the water, primordial origin of each portrait.
Not even the touch of water, the reflection of the other beloved is transfigured into details of pure appearance. only appearance, he/the other him do not recognize each other, Really, more. “Mirrors: never before has anyone described/knowing what your essence is./You, the sieves/filled interstices of time are full of holes." Imagoturgy of the refracted image in a continuous and obstinate attempt to penetrate the thoughts of the other, the other looking for me. “Sometimes you are full of paints./And it seems that some of them penetrate into you,/others you reject with fear.” And the other myths return – Phoenix, Orpheus, Alcyone, Echo – in radical change to warn of the passage of time, to testify to the new form that slowly and surely is taking shape in bloom. “But the most beautiful will remain. Until/the clear dissolved Narcissus penetrates his cheeks". (from The Sonnets to Orpheus by R.M.Rilke).
