DANTONS TOD

Tetralology of Manìa, The four -year project dedicated to Büchner's works.

With Dantons Tod Lenz Rifrazioni completes the last stage of the Tetralogy of Mania, The four -year project dedicated to Büchner's works (2004-2007). After Woyzeck's staging, Lenz and Leonce und Lena the research work with actors who have been mentally ill for a long time aims to solicit a further artistic and existential passage through the investigation into the most challenging text of the great German author. The long exploration of an unknown language, made of contradictions, spiritual anagrams and elementary wisdom allowed Maestri and Pititto to decipher an enigmatic and dark poetic dimension. The text that proclaims, through the events of Georges Danton and Robespierre, the inevitability for every revolution to put to death a part of it, becomes the central element of the new production which will debut in the Colorno Palace, monument that preserves the memory of the presence of the asylum, of high symbolic and emotional value for the ex-patient actors who spent part of their lives there. As in a dream documentary where time circulates the actors embody, with the substance of one's body, interrupted by the custodial fury of the asylum, the cruel and profound dramaturgical elements of the text establishing the possibility of a revolution through the aesthetic act, a victory, a temporary repair. The identity of the place, penetrating the artistic creation with historical-cultural connections, will determine a scenic-installation condition aimed at making the function of the actors a fully liberated presence..
